I created Emerge Media Group to assist all types of media companies in developing sustainable business practices, strategy, growth and sound operations. Throughout my career, I consistently gravitate towards roles that act as a support to the small, independent media outlet. In a landscape that is constantly changing and evolving, striking the delicate balance between sound reporting and creating a sustainable business model can be difficult to manage.

As a loaned Chief Operating Officer, I assist media organizations in evaluating sustainability, eliminating inefficiencies, adopting back-office best practices and driving a variety of monetization models so that talented journalists can continue their work at thriving organizations.

I have not always done this, though. I started my media career as a reporter and editor in Colorado. Before long, I found myself a founding partner of a media startup BizWest Media. It was at BizWest that I developed a first-hand understanding of how to build a successful multi-office, multi-state media organization. While there, I also helped foster the still-thriving company through business and economic challenges of a morphing media industry. The business of journalism is an entirely different beast than the journalistic practice itself. It was at BizWest that I got my true introduction to the business of journalism and that time has had a lasting impact on every role I have held since.

Most recently I was the COO of The Colorado Sun, a digital news organization based in Denver. At The Sun, I was able to hone my knowledge and expertise of what it takes to run an active organization successfully avoiding pitfalls independent news companies frequently fall victim to while simultaneously juggling various digital multi-media platforms.

Following my time at the Sun I decided to take the leap with Emerge Media Group, an idea I had percolating in my mind for nearly two years.

Outside business, I have been a lifelong resident of Colorado – newly relocated to Brighton – an aficionado of cycling, hiking, rock climbing, snowshoeing, fishing and camping. I also love to travel nationally and internationally with my partner and our Goldendoodle, Luna.
